In Conversation with Mr. Atul Marwaha – Vice President – International business, Designtech Systems Ltd.

DesignTech is a leading CAD/CAM/CAE and PLM solutions provider in India. With offices spread across the country, it has served to more than 2000 customers across various domains in India and overseas. Its latest solutions aim at revolutionizing hospital data management in the country.

The following is a Q&A excerpt from our conversation with Mr. Atul Marwaha, Vice President – International business, Designtech Systems Ltd.

  1. In your opinion, what are the advantages of Asclepius software for hospitals in India? What is the main impact expected to be? What is the USP of the software?

The Asclepius is a range of Hospital management software solutions that will take care of Patient Registration; Billing; Generating Pathology, OT, Pharmacy etc for handling all the aspects involved in running of the hospital. Most of the mid to high end hospitals in India have data in islands like Billing, Payroll, Accounting, Inventory, Patient data etc. Asclepius provides integrated data management to all such hospitals as it provides one integrated and consistent data base well connected with the work flows across all functions. This provides an excellent decision making and reporting tool for the top management of the hospitals and at the same time reduces errors at operating level and increases both operational efficiency and speed. This helps Hospitals to maintain the data in an integrated manner, reduces errors, controls Inventory misuse and helps increase the operational efficiency of the hospital.

  2. What are the future growth plans of the company? How do you plan to expand DesignTech Systems in the International market?

We expect to cross revenues of Rs. 100 Crores by March 2013 and expect to grow by 100% in the subsequent three years. To achieve this goal, DesignTech Systems is looking at multiple strategies to improve our offerings and expand in local and global markets. In addition to expanding our operations in USA, Canada and Europe, we are investing in creating new skills sets in emerging domains like PLM and Digital manufacturing which will give us access to many large customers in both markets. DesignTech Systems has also adopted few innovative engagement models with our existing clients to have more business centric relations than a product development centric relation. This cements our association with our existing client base and leverages business across functions and helps us get engaged in high value assignments with our clients.

  3. What are the key factors contributing to the growth of the Data Management Software market in India? How do you anticipate its growth prospects in India?

Traditional Product Data Management requirements are now increasingly shifting to “Product Life Cycle Management” (PLM) both in India and abroad. The usage of PLM is growing. This provides a big opportunity to companies like DesignTech Systems to offer PLM implementation services to mid end industries who are looking for cost effective solutions. Outsourcing of product design and engineering services creates large amount of data and security and management of such data calls for use of PLM. In addition the outsourcing companies from abroad insist on using the same PLM solutions as used by them by their vendors also. This provides a big business opportunity to service providers.
