HCL Infosystems software unit achieves SEI level 5
KOLKATA -- HCL Infosystems Ltd's professional services
unit at Kolkata has been successfully assessed to
be at level 5 of the US based Software Engineering
Institute's (SEI) capability maturity model (CMM).
SEI
evaluates software processes for development, re-engineering
and maintenance across enterprises and assesses them
at levels 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest level.
Regarded as highly mature, organizations at level
5 optimize processes and consistently use measurement
and analysis for improvement. Only 110 organizations
in the world hold this certification.
The
assessment was conducted across all lines of business
of the software unit, including application development
and maintenance, as well as software consultancy.
The assessors pointed out over 4,700 observations
after 88 man-days of rigorous assessment. Most of
the observations made have been about the strengths
of the unit, while a few are opportunities for further
improvement.
Speaking
about the achievement, Yuvraj Bahadur, executive vice
president, HCL Infosystems, said: "We constantly
strive to maintain premium quality standards in our
mission to provide world-class information technology
solutions and services. The SEI CMM level 5 certification
is a recognition of our efforts to provide sterling
quality services to our customers, as well as a challenge
to maintain the standards we set for ourselves."
