Midas, Celletra sign MoU for enhancing wireless network
solutions
NEW DELHI AND CHENNAI -- Midas Communication Technologies
recently announced a tie up with an Israel-based company,
Celletra Ltd. for R&D collaboration and joint marketing
activity in the Indian and other markets for capacity
enhancement solutions for CDMA and GSM networks, during
the recently held Convergence India 2004 show in Delhi.
Celletra, incorporated in 1997, with headquarters in
Yoqneam and a wholly owned subsidiary in New Jersey,
is involved in the development, manufacture and sale
of advanced coverage and capacity enhancement solutions
for cellular networks. It focuses on cost-effective
solutions for CDMA networks.
India
is one of the fast growing markets for cellular networks,
and both the companies believe that this association
will help them to gain a leadership position in the
niche area of network optimisation. It will also enable
them to leverage existing resources to gain better penetration
in India and international markets.
Commenting
on the tie up, Air Commodore (Retd.) S.S. Motial, executive
chairman, Midas, said: "Our collaboration with
Celletra will enhance the technical skills of Midas
in cellular networking technologies and give it a lead
in the emerging 3G and 4G technologies. In addition,
Midas will leverage its strong presence in the country
as well as the international markets to increase the
market share of the Celletra product line."
Dr.
Joseph Shapira, chairman, Celletra, added: "Celletra
was on the look out for an appropriate partner in India
and Midas's association will definitely support it in
exploring the fastest growing Indian market. Celletra
is a leader in CDMA network enhancement solutions, with
a strong technology base and tens of patents. Midas
is an excellent match, with its own high technology
base and market access, and backed by the strong TeNet
academic group in IIT Madras. This is the formula for
emerging as leaders in this exciting market."
