IPSTAR, ITI sign contract to supply
broadband gateway
THAILAND -- IPSTAR Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Shin Satellite,
one of Asia's leading satellite operators, recently
signed a contract with ITI Ltd., a leading system integrator,
to supply an IPSTAR broadband gateway , which is scalable
up to 200,000 user terminals. The multi-million dollar
deal will allow ITI to offer a wide variety of specialised
high-speed Internet-based services to clients throughout
India. The gateway services will commence with 40Mbps
of bandwidth on a local conventional satellite. However,
the total potential capacity of the gateway is up to
2.5Gbps when used with highly-advanced IPSTAR-1 satellite.
Based in Bangalore, ITI is a state enterprise under
the Ministry of Communications and IT. The networks
will be set up initially in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai,
Delhi, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai
and Pune.
