Cellnext brings new age tech for the users

Convergence Plus Team

Being an Indian company is our USP,” adds Srijnan Sanyal, Chief Marketing Officer of the mobile powering company Cellnext. “We have an understanding of Indian operations,” the marketing expert who had earlier worked for top mobile phone companies asserted.

The best illustration of this advantage it has over its competitors from abroad is the “Cellnext AlertME” application, which the Delhi based company has evolved. Sanyal says his team was convinced that Voicemail would not work in the Indian environment. With AlertME, “I get to know that I have been called” says Sanyal, which gives it a personal touch.

This platform keeps track of the callers even when the subscriber is not reachable by picking up all call attempts from the SS7 signaling network.

Then it alerts the subscriber by sending him an SMS notification giving details. The caller who did not get through will be pleasantly surprised to know that the called party has answered his unconnected call.

Among the benefits of AlertME are the revenues that operators earn even when the subscriber is off the network. The subscribers receive all the details of missed calls. It does not use expensive voice channel resources for talk-time generation. Subscribers get access to the web without the roaming facility, especially pre-paid subscribers. Sanyal also lists the simplicity of usage, the mass-market it could generate, as all mobile users need such an alerting system. The operators could look to rising ARPU.

Cellnext, as the latest entrant in the market has several advantages. The existing providers of mobile application platforms like Logica and Comverse who are already in the market have not identified the niche areas, which Sanyal will. He is making a strong pitch for the GPRS market.

Ericsson for instance has recognized the capability of the company in GPRS as it has an application independent readiness in this market. Sanyal says that his company has identified data traffic that will be of vital importance to enterprises. He is positioning Cellnext as the only company to which enterprises would go for their entire data communication requirements. The mobile is the only device that people carry with them throughout the day. This realization has resulted in different applications being generated. “Whatever you can do on the Internet you can also do on the mobile,” Sanyal claims.

One of the innovations is a messaging service that takes a huge load off the operator. Take for instance, the billing system Cellnext offers which is a paperless billing system to give you an alert on your mobile about payment of your bill through a credit card. There are tremendous savings in the cost of sending separate bills and then collecting the payment. For cost conscious business people this could be the answer. It is convenient for the customer also as he can arrange payment through his mobile.
