Global apps of Huawei OCS solution expand quickly

CHINA -- Huawei Technologies recently signed over ten contracts with operators including Telemar, China Telecom and China Netcom to provide its OCS (optical core switch) solutions. Its OCS equipment have been deployed and running smoothly in these incumbent carriers' optical networks.

Huawei's OCS product OptiX OSN 9500 features 720G cross connect capability and 40 slots per rack, which provides up to 72x10G optical direction or 288x 2.5G optical direction. It supports comprehensive reliability configuration such as 1+1 backup for keyboards. The combination of mesh networking capability and traditional SDH self-healing capability can perform powerful network protection and restoration. It has ASON features such as SLA, OVPN, mesh networking, restorable re-routing, etc.

The OSN 9500 is an advanced intelligent OCS product with large capacity. It is mainly deployed in long-haul DWDM backbone networks or core metropolitan backbone networks. In Telemar, Huawei's OSN 9500 formed LH DWDM+OCS solution, together with DWDM system OptiX BWS 1600G in seven state capitals across Brazil. This LH DWDM+OCS backbone network will meet the increasing traffic cross-connect and higher network-reliability demand in the coming years. In the OCS MESH network, ASON is used to realise multi-path protection and provide SLA services. ASON can make network intelligent to save opex and provide services quickly.

In China Telecom and China Netcom, Huawei's OSN 9500 is deployed in core metropolitan backbone networks in Guangzhou, Guiyang, Haerbin, Luoyang, Nanning and Urumch. These cities are provincial capitals and each one of them has a population of at least several million. The booming economy is boosting the demand for telecom services and traffic in these cities. In these metropolitan networks, the OSN 9500 is used in the core layer, and optimises the network architecture.
