Nokia to expand Gansu Unicom's GSM network
MAINLAND
CHINA -- Gansu Unicom and Nokia have signed a supply
contract for the expansion of the former's GSM network
in Gansu province. With this, Gansu will significantly
improve GSM capacity and further optimize network coverage
to better serve its 600,000 subscribers.
Equipment
deliveries, which include GSM 900/1,800MHz core and
radio access network infrastructure and Nokia's operations
support system solution, are already underway. Besides
the network equipment, Nokia will provide network planning,
implementation, and project management for efficient
network ramp-up, as well as radio optimization services
for enhancing network quality and capacity. A wide range
of care services, including software maintenance, will
help maintain the network's
competitiveness.
"Gansu
Unicom GSM network has achieved tremendous growth in
the past four years associated with subscriber base,
service quality, public recognition and revenue. This
fifth GSM expansion is further proof of the development,"
said Liu Shouguo, general manager, Gansu Unicom.
"This
is a new milestone in the cooperation between Gansu
Unicom and Nokia and we will consistently support Gansu
Unicom's GSM business as it expands," said David
