AT&T announces expanded global Internet roaming
services
HONG
KONG -- AT&T has announced that its customers throughout
Asia Pacific region have access to global Internet roaming
services from more than 140 countries worldwide. AT&T
has increased the number of local dial access points
for AT&T business Internet services from 2,500 POPs
across 60 countries to over 4,200 POPs in more than
140 countries.
It
also announced the availability of global feature enhancements
to AT&T global managed Internet services (GMIS),
including customer managed router options, usage based
billing and higher speed connections.
AT&T
GMIS provides customers with the flexibility of owning
and managing their own routers and hence giving them
a complete end-to-end solution. This option is tailored
for customers who wish to manage their own corporate
VPNs. Customers may also take advantage of the new usage
based reporting and usage based billing plans, with
flexible billing to match fluctuating traffic requirements
to suit their business needs.
Earlier
this year, AT&T announced that it is investing more
than $300 million to expand the coverage and enhance
the capabilities of its global network. By the end of
2002, the AT&T global network will have 122 new
state-of-the-art multiprotocol label switching (MPLS)
nodes deployed in 109 key cities worldwide, with 25
of those nodes located in the Asia Pacific region.
