Sony chooses Geevs video servers for playout solution
EUROPE -- Sony Business Europe has selected Geevs broadcast
video servers from Gee Broadcast Systems Ltd for the
playout solution for its 'TV station-in-a-box'. It will
provide a low cost integrated DV25 based production
system based on purple editors, and Sony's networking
and workflow tools.
The
configuration of the Geevs server selected by Sony provides
dual-channel playout. It includes a built-in playlist
and RS422 VTR emulation for control interfaces and supports
intranet control via a Windows user interface. Geevs
has an expandable local storage from 2.5 hours and connects
to Sony's network production system and its central
storage via Gigabit Ethernet.
Video
SDI in or out is provided with audio via stereo embedded
SDI in or out. Monitoring outputs with composite PAL
and stereo audio are included as well. The Sony TV station-in-a-box
system uses native DV25 editing with centralised networked
storage. Finished items are sent to Geevs where those
are automatically included in the Geevs database for
playout. This provides a flexible, low-cost solution
for smaller production and playout facilities where
an efficient workflow can keep operating costs to a
minimum. Gee Broadcast have designed Geevs to be a flexible
and open broadcast video server. The Geevs servers provide
broadcast video and audio media capture, media management
and processing, and full, multichannel playout facilities.
