Lucent introduces
optical access system
HONGKONG
-- Lucent Technologies has announced that it has supplied
Polkomtel, a leading telecommunications services provider
in Poland, with a new next-generation optical access
multiplexer designed for European and Asian markets.
The
product, the Metropolis ADM MultiService Mux, enables
customers to add data services to their existing metro
optical networks and to increase the amount of traffic
their networks can carry.
Metropolis
ADM serves as an integrated Ethernet over SDH metro
access multiplexer, enabling service providers to migrate
from existing TDM networks to data-aware packet networks.
The product also offers two types of shelves on a single,
compact platform that is both flexible and scalable,
and it can be configured for use in both the metro core
and metro access spaces. Its low power consumption and
small footprint also help carriers save money.
The
product is supported by the navis optical management
solution, which provides comprehensive and integrated
management of an entire transport network. It enables
the carriers to integrate this product into their existing
SDH networks.
