Agilent launches
fulfillment solution for service providers
HONG
KONG -- Agilent Technologies has introduced the OSS-Fulfillment-Optical,
a follow-through provisioning solution that helps service
providers reduce cost and time of delivering optical
services, increase customer satisfaction and maximize
revenues from the enormous amount of underutilized assets
in backbone networks. Although tailored for the optical
industry, the flexible solution can provision services
for other types of wireless and wireline networks.
The
OSS-Fulfillment-Optical is a family of pre-integrated
workflow, inventory and network activation components
that manage the overall global provisioning. It seamlessly
interacts with network technologies -- legacy, next-generation,
wireless and wireline -- and communicates with other
operational support systems such as service assurance,
trouble-ticketing, troubleshooting, customer care and
billing. The modular system allows service providers
to deploy separate components to meet specific needs.
The
OSS-Fulfillment-Optical contains a wide range of optical-specific
features that deliver services on optical networks,
including SONET, SDH and TDM type network elements.
Services include private leased lines from DS1 (1.544Mbps)
and intra-service provider facility links up to OC-192
(10,000Mbps). The solution consists of three components:
-
OSS
Workflow manager, which controls the flow of tasks
within the provisioning process -- including workforce
and order management;
-
OSS
provisioning and inventory manager, which manages
service configuration, provisioning and automation;
and
-
OSS
activation manager, which communicates with the
network to configure network elements and provides
feedback to keep inventory data in sync with the
current allocation of network resources.
