RAD unveils next-gen compressed voice gateway
HONGKONG
-- RAD Data Communications has introduced its new Vmux-2100
compressed voice gateway, which enables up to 16 EI
or TI lines to be extended over a single EI, TI or Ethernet
uplink. Like typical VoIP systems, the new product supports
G.723.1, G.729A and G.711 standards. But the use of
packet-based TDM over IP (TDMoIP) technology, enables
it to support a more efficient use of bandwidth through
even higher compression rates. VoIP currently yields
voice compression rates at the industry average of 10-12
kbps, while Vmux compresses at the rate as low as 5.3
kbps. It is an attractive solution for cellular operators
and international carriers back-hauling traffic over
another carrier's network.
Vmux-2100
occupies considerably less space than the average VoIP
system, a significant factor in minimising co-location
costs. It can be fully configured in a matter of minutes.
The product also features full SNMP management, and
RAD view service center package monitors and manages
the operation of equipment.
Vmux-2100
supports a wide variety of signaling, including MFC/R2,
ISDN, SS7, and any CCS signaling, as well as fax and
data modem relay. It also support full back up over
a second EI or TI, and is soon expected to offer full
redundancy between WAN and LAN.
