Littlefeet unveils SPICE cross-band product for GSM
networks
HONGKONG
-- Littlefeet Inc., a leader in distributed network
coverage technology and developer of a new category
of network infrastructure know as SPICE (small-profile
intelligent coverage element), has unveiled its SPICE
cross-band product. The product meant for 900/1800 MHz
GSM networks is designed to increase mobile coverage
and meet operators' quality requirements. It can also
eliminate various problems regarding radio frequency
emission, aesthetic and zoning issues involved in wireless
network build-outs.
The
cross-band product offers a unique coverage solution
for a mobile subscriber in 900MHz band, by using channels
in 1800 MHz to achieve a wireless link between coverage
SPICE (cSPICE) and base station SPICE (bSPICE), that
is co-located with the operator's base station equipment.
Moreover a dual-band GSM operator can enhance or extend
coverage in an interference limited 900 MHz coverage
layer using a more abundant, but underutilized 1800
MHz spectrum for the link.
Following
the completion of its initial product rollout into GSM
market, SPICE is commercially available for in-band
GSM 1800 MHz or 1900 MHz, and dual-band 900/1800 MHz
networks worldwide. Product development efforts are
underway to address 3G technology, as the demand for
new higher data rate service continues.
