Jagdish Malhotra
NEW
DELHI -- Brigadier Jagdish Malhotra, VSM is the commandant,
Army Headquarters Signals, since Jan 2002. Leading a
team of 40 managers, 2,000 army persons and 400 civilians,
he is responsible for training and developing the middle
level leaders and providing integrated voice and data
digital communications. During his carrier of 34 years,
he has been associated with the fields of telecom, computers
and IT.
As
chief signal officer of a field formation in a remote
area, Malhotra planned and executed a major communication
project involving laying of 1,500 km of optical fiber
cable and integration of state-of-the-art communication
equipment. As commandant of Army's computer center,
he was responsible for planning, resource allocation
and provision of automation support including development
and advance training of human resource for Army headquarters
with DPS-7/45 main frame computer systems and large
number of LANs and MANs.
Working
as a senior system analyst, he planned, designed and
developed communication links and data channels for
the automatic fire control systems. He was also associated
with the integration of all types of guns, fire plans,
radio sets and communication equipment of various origins
and design.
Malhotra
was awarded 'Vishisht Seva Medal' by the President of
India for his services in the field of IT. He is presently
the chairman of CSI, Delhi Chapter, for year 2003-04,
and also the chairman of the organising committee for
the CSI National Convention 2003.
Malhotra
is a Bachelor of Science and B.Tech from Jawaharlal
Nehru University. He has done advanced diploma in IT
and HRD.
