Mistral announces PMC-106 processor board

BANGALORE -- Mistral Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a leading player in the niche, real-time embedded solutions market, recently announced the availability of the PMC-106, the newest member of Dy4 Systems' CompactCore family of small form-factor embedded computing products. The PMC-106 is a symmetric multiprocessing dual PowerPC 7447 processor PMC board addressing the growing need for standards-based processing modules that fit into small spaces.

The PMC-106 comes equipped with one or two Altivec-enabled Motorola MPC7447 processors operating at up to 1GHz, each with 64Kbytes of L1 cache, and 512Kbytes of internal L2 cache. The dual processor version can support operating systems, such as Linux that provide symmetric multiprocessing. The PMC-106 provides 256Mbytes of double-data rate (DDR) SDRAM, providing 2GBpsec of peak memory bandwidth. This memory incorporates error checking and correcting (ECC) circuitry for applications demanding extremely high reliability. A 64-bit, 133MHz PCI-X interface offers more than 1GBpsec (peak) transfer rate between the PMC and the host card.

The PMC-106 supports a Gigabit Ethernet interface enabling high-performance networking with the newest generation of systems. The interface is backward compatible with both 10Mbps and 100Mbps Ethernet networks, and automatically adapts to the required speed. It is equipped with two EIA-232/422 serial interfaces that operate at up to 115Kbps.The card additionally provides six general purpose LVTTL discrete I/O signals that are interoperable with standard 5V TTL logic.

The PMC-106 offers the unique capability of allowing users to select the processor clock frequency, and thus, the power dissipation, to match their specific application needs. The clock frequency is software programmable and in-system upgradeable if new revisions of application software require higher processing performance. To cool the PMC-106, Dy 4 has developed an innovative cooling frame that minimizes component operating temperatures, while staying compliant with the VITA 20 standard for conduction cooled PMCs.

Dy 4 Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc., is a leading supplier of a broad range of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products for the defense and aerospace markets, having a strong focus on high performance ruggedized embedded computing solutions. The key technology sectors of Dy4 are single-board computers, graphics and imaging, network and communications controllers, digital signal processing (DSP), and systems and integration services.

Mistral Solutions specializes in embedded system design and development, real-time applications, and communications. In addition to Force products, Mistral also markets Tornado/VxWorks embedded software from WindRiver Systems, computer telephony solutions from Natural Microsystems, software development solutions for real-time applications from Telelogic, communication protocols and stacks from Trillium Digital Systems, VoIP software from Telogy Networks, and PMC and PCI graphics modules from Peritek Corp., and board level computers for industrial Applications for MEN.
