Conax AS enters into contract with Digitenne
NORWAY -- Conax AS has entered into a contract with
Digitenne in the Netherlands. The Conax CAS5 system
will enable Digitenne to launch the service with at
least four different STB providers on the Dutch market.
The
rollout will begin in phases. Starting with the first
1.3 million households in April 2003, it will cover
20 percent of all households in the Netherlands. Digitenne
focuses on TV viewers requiring greater flexibility.
It is expecting a high percentage of users with mobile
TV sets, i.e., people who have homes on boats and in
caravans, to sign up for digital broadcasting services
in future.
Shahzad
Abid, vice president--sales and marketing, Conax, said:
"It is a pleasure to sign up Digitenne as a Conax
CAS5 customer. This agreement sees the entry of Conax
into the Dutch market and strengthens our position in
the DTT segment in Europe. Our open STB policy and unstinting
focus on security are the key factors, which set Conax
apart in the conditional access business. We are looking
forward to working with Digitenne and facilitating the
company's success in the field of DTT."
Lex
Nicolai, CEO, Digitenne, added: "We chose Conax
CAS5 as it meets all our requirements for successful
DTT operations. We consider the Conax STB policy to
be a critical factor as far as our future distribution
strategy is concerned. In addition, the company's strong
track record as regards piracy, makes me confident that
we have made the right choice."
