Ericsson awarded MMS contract

ESTONIA -- Estonian operator EMT has selected Ericsson to supply an MMS solution, which includes the MMS center, mobile data gateways, and a range of support services. The contract also contains integration of key elements into the existing mobile network, supplied by Ericsson. EMT will launch its MMS services in summer 2003.

The solution will increase traffic in EMT's GPRS networks and open opportunities for a series of new, advanced services on the Estonian telecom market. With the Ericsson MMS solution, EMT customers can exchange MMS containing text, graphics, images, voice and audio clips with MMS-capable handsets.

Veiko Sepp, president, Ericsson Estonia, said: "This agreement confirms Ericsson's ability to drive the MMS market and the trust shown in our MMS solution. It is a privilege to make this step on the Estonian market together with EMT, and we look forward to continuing our very close and constructive business relation."

Tõnu Grünberg, EMT executive vice president in charge of development and technology, said: "We have chosen Ericsson as our vendor considering both commercial and technical aspects. We have always had a very good co-operation with Ericsson."
