HSS offers latest 3GPP stacks
NEW DELHI -- Hughes Software Systems has added to its
growing list of international standards based protocol
stacks by introducing release 4 compliant versions of
its MAP (Mobility Application Part), CAP (CAMEL Application
Part) and RANAP (Radio Access Network Application Part)
stacks.
These
stacks enable equipment vendors, test and measurement
tool vendors, and application developers to develop
solutions for RNC (radio network controller), SGSN (serving
GPRS support node), MSC (mobile switching center), HLR
(home location register), and application servers. A
unique differentiation is the integrated support of
these stacks over SS7 as well as SIGTRAN, providing
truly converged solutions that can run over ATM, T1/E1
or IP.
Along
with these releases, HSS has also taken the lead in
the protocol stacks adherence to standards by defining
its product roadmaps for release 5 compliance in the
near future. Its customers can now be sure that HSS
offerings will remain compliant to the evolving standards,
effectively eliminating the risk of end equipment obsolescence.
HSS
has integrated its MAP and CAP stacks with its SS7/SIGTRAN
offering to provide a complete 'black box' solution
to application developers, enabling them to connect
their mobility/billing/service applications to the 3G
network. These integrated offerings dramatically reduce
the cost, time to market, and development risks of companies
developing related solutions.
3GPP
release 4 are specifications by the 3G partnership project,
the standard making body for 3G mobile telephony, for
all GPRS/UMTS network elements. The main purpose of
3GPP R4 is to introduce separation of connection, its
control and services for the circuit switched core network
to make it freely scalable. It also aims to route a
part of VoIP, thus facilitating the transition to all
IP networks. In addition, it introduces several new
service concepts to enhance the user experience. Complying
with release 4 will be essential for operators as they
move to an all IP network to cut costs, optimise their
networks and offer new services to their customers.
Beyond
Release 4, 3GPP Release 5 aims to route the entire data
and voice traffic over IP rather than over a host of
transport protocols as in current wireless networks.
An all IP wireless network can seamlessly connect to
Internet and other IP based networks. This will make
it extremely cost-effective and convenient for wireless
networks to carry data and voice, and to interoperate
with each other.
