Tekelec provides signaling network for Maroc
EUROPE -- Maroc Telecom has awarded Tekelec a contract
for its EAGLE 5 Signaling Application System (SAS).
The complete turnkey solution will restructure the company's
entire signaling network using Tekelec's platform and
includes a long-term service commitment.
Tekelec's
EAGLE 5 SAS is a high capacity, multi-protocol advanced
signaling platform. The EAGLE 5 SAS hosts a variety
of applications from a single, high-performance platform,
including SS7 signal transfer, number portability, signaling
gateway, integrated services and data mining. The system
supports the IETF Sigtran suite of signaling protocols
for next-generation network connectivity, creating a
clear path forward to packet telephony and 3G networks.
David
Colbeck, managing director, Tekelec Ltd. and vice president
of Europe, commented: "We are very pleased that
Maroc Telecom has chosen to deploy our advanced signaling
platform, the EAGLE 5 SAS, to play an integral role
in its mobile network. We won the contract in an open
international tender against existing Maroc Telecom
suppliers, which demonstrates Tekelec's ability to provide
large, competitive network solutions. The EAGLE 5 SAS
provides highly reliable call control and service delivery.
Its modular, scalable design gives Maroc Telecom the
flexibility to choose capacity, features, and integrated
applications to meet unique customer and network requirements."
Fred
Lax, COO and executive vice president of Tekelec commented:
"Several factors led Maroc Telecom to choose Tekelec,
including the EAGLE 5 platform's reputation for reliable,
high-performance signal transfer and a wide range of
signaling applications. The newly restructured signaling
network, powered by the EAGLE 5 SAS, enables the company
to provide the most economical and efficient service
to its expanding customer base. Tekelec's solution also
positions Maroc Telecom to evolve the network and deliver
new capabilities, such as 2.5 and 3G services."
