Huawei,
Marconi sign mutual distribution agreement
CHINA
-- Huawei Technologies recently signed a mutual distribution
agreement with Marconi Corp. plc. According to the agreement,
each company will sell certain products from the other's
product portfolio to its respective customers. Also,
Marconi can use its extensive services structure to
support Huawei's pursuit of equipment business in the
European market.
Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) and also formed working groups to sign a more
definitive agreement. Marconi will distribute Huawei's
carrier grade data products to its key customers, and
Huawei will distribute Marconi's next-gen access radio
products to its key customers. The companies are also
discussing a joint product development agreement to
enable both the companies derive benefits from the sharing
of R&D resources and technologies.
Mike Parton, chief executive officer, Marconi, said:
"This is an important first step for a long and
mutually beneficial working partnership. Both companies
have excellent technology and strong customer relationships
that can be leveraged to sell products from our respective
product portfolios. We will sell Huawei's products that
complement our own, and which we will support through
our strong service offering."
Ren Zhengfei, chief executive officer, Huawei, added:
"We are very glad to co-operate with Marconi. The
co-operation is dedicated to bringing customers greater
benefits by combining both sides' strengths in the telecom
industry. We are looking forward to work closely with
Marconi and expecting a win-win outlook for the co-operation."
