Ericsson delivers W-CDMA for Far EasTone, Yuan-Ze
TAIWAN
-- Far EasTone Telecommunications has selected Ericsson
as the sole supplier for a seamless, island-wide 2G/3G
system. Ericsson will expand and upgrade the present
2G-system to 3G, delivering a fully integrated GSM-GPRS-W-CDMA
solution.
The
agreement comprises a complete 3G system including W-CDMA
radio access network, core network and a wide portfolio
of comprehensive services for Yuan-Ze Telecommunications,
a subsidiary of Far EasTone. Ericsson will start the
implementation of W-CDMA immediately and manage it on
a turnkey basis. The two companies have signed a framework
agreement for expanding Far EasTone´s present
GSM network and associated services as well.
Jan Nilsson, president, Far EasTone said: "Ericsson
has worked with FET as a network infrastructure supplier
since January 1998. We are delighted to further strengthen
this relationship by working together on the speedy
rollout of our 3G network."
