Infosys, Wavecom sign MoU to address M2M market

NEW DELHI -- Wavecom SA, a leader in embedded wireless communications solutions for automotive, industrial (machine-to-machine) and mobile professional applications, and Infosys, a global Consulting and IT services company, recently signed a partnership agreement to address the growing machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless connectivity market. As part of this agreement, Infosys becomes a Wavecom-Certified Competence Center, offering design, development and integration services based on Open AT, Wavecom’s wireless software platform. The partnership will enable Wavecom to provide wireless solutions to global customers utilising Infosys’ proven expertise in product engineering and IT.

Organisations are increasingly adopting advanced M2M wireless connectivity for a wide range of applications such as telematics, telemetry, real-time asset tracking and security, using cellular networks in conjunction with emerging technologies like RFID and GPS. The Wavecom-Infosys partnership fills the void in a space where there is increasing need for software and software integration services with more intelligence and connectivity being embedded into devices to give businesses the competitive edge with access to real time information.

With the signing of this contract, Infosys becomes the first global certified competence center partner of Wavecom based in the Asia-Pacific region. Infosys has been working closely with Wavecom in developing solutions using Open AT. As part of this technology partnership, Infosys gains access to the Open AT software development environment, to help customers realise powerful wireless solutions based on Wavecom’s industry-leading Open AT platform.

Infosys has focused on developing solutions on GSM/GPRS, UMTS, Wi-Fi and complementary technologies like Bluetooth and RFID. Infosys' expertise and domain knowledge in sectors including retail, automotive, transportation and logistics, energy and utilities combined with Wavecom’s powerful Open AT platform will deliver to clients, cutting edge solutions that will enhance their competitiveness. The partnership will provide clients of both companies with cost-competitive designs, rapid time-to-market and industrial reliability. Infosys’ product engineering services include product conceptualization, design and development in hardware, embedded software and product lifecycle management.
