Amp'd
mobile selects Kodiak to power PTT services
UNITED
STATES -- Kodiak Networks and Amp'd Mobile recently
announced the selection of the Kodiak real-time exchange
(RTX) system to deliver Push-to-Talk (PTT) services.
Amp'd Mobile will be the first mobile virtual network
operator (MVNO) created specifically for a high-bandwidth
3G network and optimised handsets, offering PTT services,
to deliver a unique combination of wireless services
and content.
The
Kodiak RTX System was selected to enable PTT as part
of the Amp'd suite of services based on its proven performance,
speed and ability to integrate with next-gen networks.
Amp'd Mobile is the ninth wireless operator worldwide
to select the Kodiak RTX System for its PTT services.
The
Kodiak RTX System has been commercially deployed in
more countries than any competing PTT over cellular
system. Kodiak RTX also enables a series of advanced
voice services applications, including instant availability
and presence functionality. Kodiak offers carriers the
only PTT over cellular system with QoS, which ensures
the highest voice quality and reliability for end users,
while maintaining the network-wide coverage that customers
expect from their cellular service.
Amp'd Mobile has chosen evolution-data optimised (EV-DO)
technology to deliver the fastest, wide-area wireless
data experience in the U.S. The company will deliver
unique, exclusive content and a truly integrated experience
for mobile devices with its proprietary user interface
(UI) in order to become the preferred mobile entertainment
service for the age 18-35 wireless user.
Chris Houston, senior vice president, wireless operations,
Amp'd Mobile, said: "We selected Kodiak Networks
to power our PTT services based on the overall performance
and speed of the Kodiak RTX, which is critical to meet
the service demands of the demographic we are targeting,
Kodiak has a proven track record of successful, worldwide
commercial deployments of its PTT system and has working
relationships with a number of our handset partners."
Bruce
Lawler, founder and vice president of business development
and strategy, Kodiak Networks, commented: "We are
delighted to work with Amp'd Mobile to provide industry-leading
PTT services as part of its suite of mobile entertainment
offerings. Throughout our customer base, Kodiak-enabled
PTT services performed very well among the youth market
because of our system performance and advanced voice
services functionality."
