GANDHINAGAR -- Modern Communication and Broadcast Systems

Technology (MIT) funded and entrusted the project.

have completed this project within the stipulated time
period with the help of our professional and technocrat
staff. The total cost of this project was Rs. 70 lakhs."
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology
funded Rs. 40 lakhs.
He
mentioned that the program review steering group (PRSG)
committee, comprising members from the Ministry of Communications
and Information Technology, Prasar Bharati and Indian
Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reviewed this project.
This committee finally declared the successful completion
of the project. Jain added: "Our company has developed
a technology -- DVB/S/C/T STB -- within a short span
of 18 months with the finalisation of the chipset solution.
This technology will enhance the 'digital system development'
in the country, which is a step toward the total 'digitalization'
of the transmission media." Jain noted, "We
intend to introduce CAS based set-top boxes by June
end."
Satellite TV operators, home users, and others will
use DVB-S set-top boxes for receiving satellite channels.
DVB-T set-top boxes will find application for receiving
direct TV terrestrial transmission signal from Doordarshan's
TV towers. All cable homes will use DVB-C set-top boxes
as the government has introduced conditional access
system (CAS) in the four metros and subsequently throughout
India.
