Maxis, Axalto launch MDP SIMagine program at CommunicAsia
SINGAPORE
-- Maxis Multimedia Sdn Bhd , Malaysia's premier telecommunications
company and Axalto, world's leading provider of microprocessor
cards, announced the launch of the MDP SIMagine programme
at the CommunicAsia event. It is aimed at providing
local mobile content and application developers with
skills and technology know-how to tap into the fast
growing global Java SIM market. This translates to shorter
application development cycle where one application
created on the Java platform can be used on a variety
of Java SIM cards.
Encik Karim Abdul Malik, head, product development and
management, Maxis, said: "We recognise that application
development on SIM is still new to a large number of
developers at home and worldwide. With MDP SIMagine,
we are hoping to reduce the learning curve and open
up a new channel for them. We will offer free training
and workshops to Malaysians, so that every developer
can have the skills and technical understanding to create
a wealth of applications that can be embedded into the
Java SIM cards."
Claus Hansen, vice president, South Asia and India,
Axalto, added: "As we continue to work with operators
across the region, it has become clear that mobile Java-based
applications have become strong revenue streams for
Asian operators. It offers greater flexibility in deploying
VAS, thereby increasing the ability to offer new and
exciting services and speed to market. Developers or
participants have access and are able to increase their
exposure and interaction with an international community
of developers via the web-based SIMagine forum."
