Boom in antenna segment due to expanding
telecom infrastructure

FARIDABAD
-- Lambda Microwaves Pvt. Ltd. is a team of microwave
professionals. The company started its production from
passive waveguide components, and moved to serve microwave/BTS
equipment manufacturers and installers. It is emerging
as a single window for supplying tha gamut of microwave
components and installation accessories.
Lambda's
product range includes microwave components serving
defence, telecom companies, VSAT application, microwave
absorbers, anaechoic chambers, thermoelectric coolers,
etc. The company supplied CDMA installation kits to
over 3,000 sites, and GSM kits to over 800 sites. Convergence
plus meets Ramesh Kumar, director, Lambda Microwaves
Pvt. Ltd. to discuss more about the company and its
products. Excerpts from the interview:
Convergence
Plus: Please give us a company overview. How was your
performance in the last quarter?
Ramesh
Kumar: Lambda has established a brand name for
supplying telecom installation materials for GSM/CDMA.
Its turnover has tripled during the last year. It is
launching new products such as FRP and PUF shelters,
and thermoelectric cooling units. In the last quarter,
it completed telecom orders for nearly 2,000 sites.
CP:
What are the products and solutions that you will demo
at the show?
RK:
Lambda will be displaying the following new products:
-
FRP and PUF shelters for BTS equipment for GSM/CDMA
sites;
- Thermoelectric
cooling units (future technology);
- DTH
outdoor unit;
- EMI/EMC
shielding tiles; and
- Installation
material kits.
CP:
How do you oversee the microwave component market taking
off in India?
RK:
Customer confidence in indigenous microwave components
is growing. Lambda has developed various components
such as RF splitters, power taps, lightening arrestors,
coaxial attenuators, and waveguide passive components
for import substitution. Lambda also has its own in-house
design and test facility.
CP:
How is the antenna segment performing? What can you
do to change the current scenario?
RK:
There is a surge in the requirement of antennas due
to the expansion in the telecom infrastructure. Lambda
has a design and testing facility for the development
of high frequency antennas. It has already developed
the Ku-band backbone antennas and DTH antennas.
For
the cellular market, Lambda is coming up with a new
plant for antennas at Sohan (HP), along with an Anechoic
chamber for antenna test facilities. Lambda is seeking
foreign partners for the production of antennas in India,
for home consumption and export.
