Acterna
intros open-standard DSL test solution
HONG
KONG -- Acterna recently released the North American
version of the industry's most cost-effective and complete
DSL test solution. The solution is a combination of
Acterna's patented technology in DSL Test Head (QT-200)
and the scalable architecture of the Acterna Quality
Test Management System (QMS Test OS). It optimizes the
DSL services test process -- from installation and provisioning
to trouble shooting and service assurance.
The
Acterna DSL test solution is a Web-based, open solution,
in terms of standards (UNIX/Linux, XML, Web based, ETSI,
ANSI, etc.) as well as emerging technologies and customer
needs (VoIP, VDSL, ADSL2). The solution integrates copper
tests (Narrowband and Wideband) as well as service tests.
As a result, tests can be performed to address customer
premise and DSL network issues. The Acterna DSL test
solution enables efficient customer call management
for network operators, saves days in mean-time-to-repair
(MTTR) and eliminates the need to deploy technicians
to end-user locations to identify faults.
Due
to its small footprint, no additional rack space is
required for the test solution -- it can be installed
in the customer's existing racks, saving additional
costs. Carriers may also use the Acterna DSL test solution
to streamline their provisioning process and accelerate
revenue recognition of new services delivered. This
can eliminate time-consuming processes for field technicians
by scheduling automated tests and reports.
Enzo
di Luigi, general manager, fiber-optic and systems,
Acterna, said: "Because of its open architecture,
Acterna's DSL test solution provides an intelligent
and flexible solution that is interoperable with the
industry's leading DSL equipment and offers carriers
unique technical innovations, a small footprint and
ease of use. Carriers will save considerable operational
costs in delivering ADSL and G.SHDSL services. Using
the numerous features of the Acterna DSL test solution,
they can significantly reduce the number of trouble
tickets by identifying correctly the source of the fault,
quickly fixing network problems and reducing the number
of handoffs to the field."
