Wipro Technologies launches System Integration Partnership with Wyde for Global Insurance Industry

Wipro Technologies, the Global Information Technology, Consulting and Outsourcing business of Wipro Limited will offer system integration services to Wyde Corporation's insurance clients and prospects worldwide under a strategic partnership. Wyde is a leading international provider of core insurance software solutions.

The partnership will allow Wyde's clients to leverage Wipro's global resources. Wipro Technologies will be the lead Systems Integrator for implementing Wyde's 'Wynsure' software, for the insurance sector. Wipro will also set up a Wynsure Center of Excellence in India that will be leveraged for sales initiatives, co-development programs, training purposes and customer demonstrations. With this partnership Wyde and Wipro are poised to address over 250 small to medium sized insurers in the United States alone.

MACH delivers end-to-end Roaming Services for Movicel

Lucivid launches Luci-MP, a Low-Cost High-Definition Video Conference Solution

Lucivid Software Systems Pvt. Ltd. launches Luci-MP, a low cost high-definition (HD) video conference solution. Priced at Rs. 60,000 per unit, it is about 5 times less expensive than competing video conference solutions in the market. Luci-MP supports 10-way video conferencing without the need for any additional hardware. It provides high-definition video on a 1 mbps broadband internet line.

A Luci-MP end point includes a high definition camera, a speaker-phone and a remote controller. It can be connected to a TV/Monitor/LCD projector, and needs a broadband internet line. It takes about five minutes to set up and is easy to use.

Hughes launches Cloud Services on Microsoft Platform

Hughes Communications India, Ltd. (HCIL), a leading provider of broadband satellite and managed network services, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) announced that it has partnered with Microsoft to launch a subscription-based messaging and collaborative service built on Microsoft's Communication Services platform for business customers.

The Microsoft Communication Services works on a pay- as- you- go and Zero Investment model, thus providing enterprises and SMBs with a rich enterprise-class applications hosting platform without any up-front costs along with significant productivity benefits.

The installed base of hosted email mailboxes in the APAC region, including both business and consumer accounts, is expected to grow from nearly 1.1 billion mailboxes in 2010, to over 1.5 billion mailboxes by 2014.

India PC Market achieved 6 % growth in the First Quarter of 2011: Gartner

According to Gartner, Inc, the combined desk-based and mobile PC market in India totalled nearly 2.6 million units in the first quarter of 2011, a 6.2 % increase over the first quarter of 2010.

The growth was primarily driven by the mobile PC market which grew 23 % in the first quarter of 2011.

All the major multinational PC vendors experienced double-digit growth in mobile PC shipments in the first quarter of 2011. Multinational brands contributed more than half of the total PC shipments in the first quarter of 2011 with shipments from Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo, the top 4 vendors, representing 50.4 % of total shipments in the first quarter of 2011. Local vendor HCL accounted for 7.1 % of PC shipments in the first quarter of 2011.

Latest update of Telecom Subscription Data as on 31st March 2011

As per the latest data by TRAI, the total number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 846.32 million at the end of March 2011 from 826.25 million at the end of February 2011, thereby registering a growth rate of 2.43%.

The Wireless subscriber base increased from 791.38 million to 811.59 million during the same period, registering a growth of 2.55%. The overall wireless Tele-density in India reaches 67.98.

Wireline subscriber base declined from 34.87 million in February 2011 to 34.73 million at the end of March 2011. The overall Wireline Tele-density in India declines to 2.91 with urban and rural teledensity being 7.26 and 1.04 respectively.

As far as Mobile Number Portability requests are concerned, they increased from 38.33 lakh subscribers at the end of February 2011 to 64.23 lakh subscribers at the end of March 2011.

Broadband subscription reaches to 11.87 million in Mar-2011 from 11.47 Million in Feb-2011

Telcordia and Comviva recognized at National Telecom Awards 2011

Comviva, the providers of mobile solutions beyond VAS, announced that it had won the ‘Best VAS Provider Company’ award at the prestigious 5th CMAI National Telecom Awards 2011.

On the other hand, Telcordia, the developers of mobile, broadband and enterprise software and services, announced that the company has been recognized by the Communication Media and Infrastructure (CMAI) Association of India as the “Emerging Telecom VAS Provider” at this year’s 5th National Telecom Awards.

The award was presented on May 17, 2011 during an award event on World Telecom Day at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi.

The CMAI National Telecom Awards are among the most prestigious industry awards in India. The awards aim to identify, acknowledge, and recognize outstanding contributions to the field of information and communications technology.

Panasonic opens its first R&D Centre in Gurgaon

Panasonic, the global leader in innovation and technology announced the establishment of its first R&D subsidiary in India, the Panasonic Research & Development Centre India (PRDCI) in Gurgaon, Haryana. The PRDCI starts its activities in line with Panasonic’s plans to make India a hub for the development of products that will contribute to the future Indian market and help realize green innovation for a sustainable society. The PRDCI is established as Panasonic’s 9th R&D centre in emerging countries following China and Vietnam and is expected to expand its operational scale in India.
