Huawei launches HiLink, the world’s first plug and link datacard

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced the commercial launch of the world’s first plug and link data card, the HiLink E353. Powered by a number of patented technologies, the HiLink E353 automatically connects users to the Internet in as little as 15 seconds after the datacard is inserted into the USB port, without the need for a tedious dial-in process, driver installation or manual configuration. This is up to 75% faster than products currently on the market. The HiLink E353 is the first EDGE/GPRS/GSM-compatible product in the Huawei HiLink series that supports HSPA+network with 21 Mbps Downlink.

Tata Teleservices launches ‘Tata Walky Groove Station’

AirTyme announces TORRID 3G

InMobi acquires Silicon Valley firm Sprout

Delta signs agreement with Canada based Ballard system for fuel cell technology for India

Ballard Power Systems announced that Dantherm Power, a Danish system integrator in which it has a controlling interest, has signed a collaboration agreement with Delta Power Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd. [Delta] to market clean energy fuel cell power solutions in the Indian telecommunications sector. Delta Power Solutions (India) is a subsidiary of Delta Electronics (Thailand) PLC, part of the Delta Group, the world’s leading energy saving solutions provider (www.deltaww.com).
Under the agreement, Dantherm Power and Delta will jointly work to deploy product field trials comprised of Dantherm Power’s direct hydrogen 2-kilowatt (kW) DBX2000 fuel cell system as well as its 5kW DBX5000 fuel cell system, which will be integrated by Delta, along with its Site Management & Control System (SMCS), and deployed at telecom customer sites in India. Delta will take responsibility for installation, commissioning, maintenance and management of these field deployments. These sites will be remotely monitored by Delta’s Network Operation Centre (NOC).
These field trials will enable an informed assessment of the commercial market opportunity, including identification of appropriate fuel cell solutions. Commercial deployments in India would then benefit from Delta’s in-country marketing, sales, distribution and servicing capabilities.
Delta Power Solutions serves many of the largest service and infrastructure providers in the Indian telecom industry, including Indus, Bharti, Vodafone, Reliance and Idea Cellular.

John Suffolk joins Huawei as Global Cyber Security Officer

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced the appointment of John Suffolk as it’s Global Cyber Security Officer (“GCSO”), effective October 1.
Mr. Suffolk will report directly to Huawei’s CEO. He will be in charge of developing Huawei’s cyber security assurance strategy and system, managing and supervising its implementation. The system will be adopted globally by all business groups and across all departments including R&D, supply chain, marketing and sales, project delivery and technical service. As Huawei’s GCSO, Mr. Suffolk will also refine Huawei’s cyber security assurance system through communication with customers, partners, employees, and other stakeholders. The GCSO’s office will be located in Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China.
Prior to joining Huawei, Mr. Suffolk was the Chief Information Officer of the United Kingdom (UK) Government, responsible for the development and implementation of the UK Government’s Transformational Government Strategies, the Technology Strategy, and the Information Assurance Strategy. He has also been an adviser to the World Bank High-Level Experts group since 2010 advising governments on how ICT can be used to transform the public service sector and generate economic growth. Earlier to that Mr. Suffolk was the Director General of the UK Criminal Justice Transformation Programme and before that Managing Director of the Britannia Building Society, a large retail financial services company.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from University of Wolverhampton and he is a certified director from the UK Institute of Directors.
