RFS compactLine suite targets 50-60GHz
range
GERMANY
-- Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), a leading wireless
technology group, recently made two additions to its
CompactLine range of cost-effective, ultra-high-performance
microwave antennae.
Both
one-foot diameter, single-polarised antennae -- the
SB1-520A and the SB1-550A -- were developed to fulfill
specific application demands in the 50GHz to 60GHz frequency
range. These antennae provide an ideal solution in this
emerging band, for high-capacity point-to-point applications
that demand greater system gain. Designed for short-haul
microwave systems, the RFS CompactLine SB1-520A antenna
supports the 51.4GHz to 52.6GHz band. In some European
nations, such as Switzerland, it forms the backbone
system for hops of under-one kilometer in cellular base
station applications.
The
second of this series, the RFS CompactLine SB1-550A,
is the only antenna in the market to cover the entire
54.25GHz to 59GHz range in one product. It is used in
various countries, from Australia to Germany, and has
proven the optimal choice for the transmission of video
services in Great Britain.
As
with all the CompactLine family, both antennae offer
unrivalled side lobe suppression. They incorporate a
short shroud for a low profile, and a modified Cassegrain
feed system with shaped sub-reflector for optimum gain
and pattern performance.
Gerd
Bohnet, area product manager, microwave antennas, RFS,
said: "As RFS caters to a global market, we need
to consider the frequency bands that each country has
released for its licensed fixed services. RFS developed
a broadband antenna to cover requirements from 54.25GHz
to 59GHz, and a supplementary antenna for the lower
frequency band 51.4GHz to 52.6GHz."
