KT to deploy Juniper's T640 routing nodes and ERX edge
routers
HONG
KONG AND KOREA -- Juniper Networks Inc. has announced
that Korea's KT Corp., the world's largest provider
of advanced broadband services, has selected Juniper
Networks T640 routing nodes and ERX edge routers as
part of a major core and edge network expansion.
Together,
the two platforms provide KT with a fully integrated
solution, with leading IP routing, quality of service
(QoS) and MPLS capabilities. With over four million
broadband subscribers, KT is the world's largest ISP.
With this deployment, KT's objective was to enhance
performance and alleviate capacity demand throughout
its nationwide network. After rigorous benchmark and
network production testing, it chose the T640 routing
node for its high-port density, scale, and uncompromising
dependability.
The
T640 routing nodes will aggregate Internet traffic through
the Korea Internet Exchange (KIX) and Internet Data
Center (IDC). The T640 routing nodes offer a seamless
path to multi-terabit scaling and allow for cost-effective
operational scale through reduced capital and operational
costs.
Having
already deployed the ERX routers in production networks
for more than three years, KT purchased additional Juniper
Networks ERX routers to help scale its growing subscriber
base and to enable advanced wire-speed broadband services
with subscriber-based IP QoS. The ERX router's ASIC-based
architecture combines necessary edge functionality,
such as IP routing, subscriber management and IP services.
The wide range of interface options enables KT to deliver
new, advanced Internet services such as hotspots, VPNs,
video-on-demand, videoconferencing and online gaming.
