Contec
helps mobile service providers reduce churn
GENEVA
-- Contec Innovations, a global provider of mobile data
infrastructure, launched the breakthrough enhancements
to its core technology, the Hornet, a mobile service
delivery platform capable of hosting multiple applications
in a secure and scalable environment. At ITU Telecom,
Contec introduced Hornet v4.0 featuring Sandbox, a new
approach for mobile service providers to develop and
deploy hundreds of applications in record time.
Hornet
Sandbox allows development to take place in the same
application environment that hosts current mobile data
services, yet reduces the risk of application deployment
by restricting each application to its own fenced realm.
This means no application can interfere with other applications,
crash the network or over-consume server resources.
These built-in controls make it possible to support
even non-professional applications in a real production
environment.
Hornet
Sandbox opens up the development process to a larger
development community. Because of it's fast and easy
to deploy applications, service providers do not need
to go through lengthy and expensive pre-qualification
and testing procedures. Instead, they can get a whole
range of applications up and running quickly and let
the consumer decide which ones will be the killer apps.
In
addition to Sandbox, Hornet v4.0 also includes enhanced
rendering capability and MMS application support. The
Hornet rendering engine makes existing Internet and
Web applications wireless-friendly by presenting Web
information in a format suitable for the wireless device.
With fast graphical image handling and device optimised
display, Hornet rendering capability enhances the experience
of users surfing the Internet using a handset or PDA.
With the Hornet, mobile service providers can reduce
churn, gain new sources of revenue and realize rapid
ROI.
