its "broadband home" DSL and WLAN solutions
at ITU Telecom event. These solutions will address
the need for ultra-high-speed, cost-effective delivery
of content-rich applications for home and enterprise
users.
Metalink
revealed its strategic plan to combine wireline and
wireless broadband technologies to deliver rich content,
establishing the next plateau in broadband services,
at the show. By combining VDSLPlus wireline access
technology with WLANPlus WLAN technology, Metalink
is laying the foundation for a full, true broadband
delivery network that exceeds 100Mbps.
VDSLPlus
is the most advanced DSL technology, enabling transmission
of over 150Mbps over a single, telephony-grade, copper
pair. This technology achieves significant improvements
in speed and reach over standard 4-band VDSL technology
by utilising an additional 5th band in the unused
spectrum between 12MHz to 30MHz. Metalink's next-generation
VDSL/VDSLPlus chipset is also denser, consumes less
power, and is aggressively priced compared to other
VDSL and ADSL solutions.
The
solution is designed to meet the ever-increasing demand
for WLAN speed and reach that is critical for home
and office multi-media applications. Its architecture
features multiple antennas and utilises advanced communication
techniques, such as space-time coding, that dramatically
improve speed (more than 5X currently available wireless
LAN 802.11x technology) and reach.
