Reliance Infocomm bags global CDMA award
MUMBAI -- Reliance Infocomm, India's largest
mobile services provider, recently won another prestigious
global honour -- the 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award
for International Leadership. The award, instituted
by the CDMA Development Group (CDG), was presented to
Reliance Infocomm "for emerging as the largest
wireless operator in India since deploying cdma2000
in March 2003, with over eight million customers."
Perry
LaForge, executive director, CDG, presented the award
to Bharat Bhushan Anand, president, regulatory affairs,
Reliance Infocomm, at the recently held CDMA Congress
at the Miami Beach Convention Centre. Coming as it does,
the CDMA global award is in a series of honours bestowed
on Reliance Infocomm:
- Mukesh
Ambani, chairman, was voted as the "Most influential
person in telecommunications in 2004" by London-based
Total Telecom as part of its World Communication Awards;
- Ambani
was honoured with the prestigious Voice & Data
'Telecom Man of The Year' Award - 2004; and
- Earlier,
NASSCOM conferred the IT Excellence Award for 2004
on Reliance Industries.
