KRONE launches CopperTen 10Gig cabling
connectivity solution
NEW
DELHI -- KRONE Communications Ltd., a leading network
cable and connectivity supplier, providing high-performance
network solutions for voice and data communication applications,
recently launched CopperTen, the world's first 10Gigabit
end-to-end cabling connectivity solution.
Revolutionizing
the future of networking, CopperTen represents the next
generation in structured cabling technology. It brings
tremendous time and cost savings as well as increased
productivity, as it is both easier to install and a
more cost-effective solution than shielded and fiber-optic
cabling systems.
It
kicked off its three-city cabling road show in New Delhi,
where it showcased CopperTen, the world's first unshielded
(UTP) augmented cat 6 cabling system with the necessary
characteristics to enable 10 Gigabit per second Ethernet
transmission. The roadshow, targeted at the fast growing
high-end enterprise market, essentially launched CopperTen
solutions into India. Reflecting the growing importance
of connectivity in India, it also aimed at equipping
the IT industry to make the right decisions on the latest
in structured cabling technology and trends.
CopperTen
was a collaborative development between KRONE's global
research and development centers in Australia, the United
States, Great Britain, and Germany. The solution demonstrates
a Shannon Capacity of 18Gigabit/s for the full 100-meter
channel due to the improved alien cross-talk immunity
and the reduced insertion loss. These characteristics
are more than adequate for the 10Gigabit/s Ethernet
implementations being considered by IEEE 802.3an - the
IEEE task force developing 10GBase-T.
Bala
Chandran, managing director, Krone Communications, said:
"By showing that 10 Gigabit Ethernet can be achieved
over UTP cabling, we have once again demonstrated our
unmatched commitment to technological innovation. While
most vendors are talking about 10 Gigabit over either
fiber or shielded cabling, we are delighted to be the
first in the world to reach this remarkable milestone
for UTP cabling. The advantage of deploying CopperTen
makes perfect sense to the Indian IT users, especially
in terms of ease of installation and overall costs."
Tim
Takala, director (Support Technologies), ADC and KRONE,
who spearheaded the 10G technology lead-group within
the company, was the guest speaker. He has over 10 years
of experience in the cabling business and, having served
in Asia and now in the US, possesses a wide view of
both markets.
