D-Link enables new business apps over data networks

MUMBAI -- D-Link, an industry leader in innovative networking solutions, recently launched locally designed-and-developed DRO-200i, which is a part of the Multi-Service Access Router Series, a line of highly flexible and reliable business-class routers. These routers provide a wide range of remote link services that can be tailored to the particular remote access requirements of business. The advanced network security technologies built into these routers enable new business applications to be brought over the data networks by reducing risks in expanding business over remote branch locations connected to corporate networks.

The DRO-200i uses XScale architecture (ARM core with NPEs) from INTEL (IXP425) and the hardware is designed with 1 LAN and 4 WAN Interfaces (V.35, AUX, ISDN and WAN3 / DMZ). V.35 is the Primary interface for WAN connectivity, which ideally gives bandwidth up to 2Mbps. ISDN BRI is the secondary WAN interface used as a 128kbps back-up line.

It supports a complete range of protocols, including RIP, OSPF, QoS, PPP and V.35 while providing secure Internet, Intranet and Extranet access with VPN and firewall protection. The entire family of these routers has extensive security features, from simple firewall such as NAT to VPN, IPSec and authentication. Other access security functions provided include PAP and CHAP. The Router allows Remote Firmware Upgrades in the field whenever they are released.

The VoD applications are rapidly gaining acceptance and networks can be made capable of this by installing voice data ports in the DRO-200i to add value to existing network. This substantially reduces the long distance call charges by allowing data networks to carry inter-office voice traffic. These ports provide voice communication that works with existing telephone instruments and PBXs without having to go for costly upgrades to the telecom equipment.
