Rebroadcasting wireless services over fiber

SINGAPORE -- Premier Electro Communication Pte Ltd, subsidiary of Teledata (Singapore) Ltd, has announced a partnership agreement with Tekmar Sistemi, a developer of fiber-optic mobile wireless transmission technologies, to offer Tekmar's solutions in Southeast Asia.

Premier will deploy Tekmar's Britecast technology for wireless rebroadcasting over fiber solutions with certain exclusivity rights in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Vietnam.

Britecast is a high-performance, fiber-optic distribution solution for analog FM, DAB and DTV broadcasting signals based on capillary distribution of RF signals by fiber optics and low-power remote distributed antennas. These are connected to either a base station or a signal processor with flexible, unobstrusive fiber-optic cable from the local interface equipment.

Motorists travelling along the 2.4-km Central Expressway (CTE) tunnels can now tune into all the FM radio stations. This has been made possible when Premier deployed Britecast in its radio re-transmission project in the CTE tunnels in Singapore. This encompassed the extension of coverage in the two tunnels in the 2.4-km long CTE passing from the actual five FM radio stations to 20 radio stations plus DAB, keeping all the freedom for future expandability.
