PEA awards optic-fiber contracts to Siemens ICN

THAILAND -- Siemens ICN has been awarded two full turnkey contracts for optical fiber cable installation from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) of Thailand. The contracts are worth over $17.5 million.

Completion of the projects will enable PEA to have a state-of-the-art, high-capacity optical fiber transmission backbone network in central and eastern regions of Thailand. The equipment will be installed between PEA's existing power sub-stations and major cities in these parts of Thailand. The total distance of the optical fiber installation of the two projects is over 2,100 km.

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is a government enterprise under the ministry of Interior. PEA has been assigned responsibility to provide and supply electric energy to provincial areas throughout Thailand (73 provinces) covering a service area of approximately 510,000 sq. km.
