Asian wireless market attracts ip.access
SINGAPORE -- UK-based ip.access Ltd, a wholly owned
subsidiary of TTP Communications plc, recently announced
the expansion of its operations into Asia to tap into
the burgeoning wireless market.
The
firm is opening its Singapore office and has appointed
Vincent Wong as regional sales manager, Asia Pacific,
to drive forward growth in this market and lead the
uptake of ip.access technology, including the
worlds smallest GSM-over-IP base station, the
nanoBTS.
The
firm sees Asia as an exciting growth market. It also
claims that nanoBTS combines GSM and IP technologies
to provide ubiquitous and cost-effective mobile coverage
and is ideally suited to the needs of the Asian marketplace.
The base station can be used to provide wireless office
solutions or public infill applications such as in airports,
shopping malls, railway terminals and hotels. In addition,
the nanoBTS can be used to provide cellular coverage
in rural areas in developing economies.
ip.access
designs and manufactures a range of GSM/GPRS infrastructure
solutions that seamlessly integrate with IP-based networks.
Headquartered in Cambridge, UK it is working with partners
in Europe, North America and the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS). It has signed an agreement with Remotek
in Taiwan, a leading distributor of wireless products
in the region as well.
