Portal to open development center in India

INDIA -- Portal Software Inc., a leading provider of customer management and convergent billing software, has announced the expansion of their business in India with the appointment of a dedicated sales and marketing team.

The team will be headed by Shailendra K. Singh, the newly appointed country sales manager, India and SAARC region. The company also introduced its flagship convergent billing solution -- Infranet -- for the Indian market. Portal Software plans to develop its presence in the India market with a strong focus on convergent prepaid and postpaid billing solutions for wireless and wireline markets.

Portal Software is also planning to set up a dedicated offshore development center in India by the end of this year. The aim is to make India a hub for Portal's R&D initiatives. The India development center will be the company's second development center after the one in North America.
