Nokia launches MMS imaging phones
SINGAPORE
-- Nokia has recently launched two new GSM phones --
the 3510i and the 3650.
The Nokia 3510i features a high-quality colour display
and supports MMS and Java. It also enables downloadable
games and applications via Java technology, GPRS, HSCSD,
WAP 1.2.1 (via GRPS or HSCSD) and WIM (security module).
The dual-band GPRS phone operates at E-GSM 900MHz/GSM
1,800MHz in Europe, Africa and Asia, and enables automatic
switching between bands.
The Nokia 3650 is an imaging phone. Features include
an integrated high-resolution camera, a camcorder, a
video player and MMS functionalities. It operates in
900MHz/1,800MHz/1,900MHz networks and enables automatic
switching between bands. It is available in most of
the major European, Asian and American languages. The
3650 supports data transfer up to 43.2Kbps in HSCSD
networks and up to 40.2Kbps in GPRS networks.
The
3650 camera phone is expected to start shipping from
January 2003, while the 3510i multimedia messaging phone
will start shipping later this year in Europe and Africa.
The two phones are expected to be priced at around $300
each. Nokia expects its new products to not only capture
the mass market but also boost mobile Internet services.
